Nolan River Kennel Club dog show at the Expo at Glen Rose

One of the largest AKC dog shows in Texas is next week in Glen Rose—the dinosaur capital of Texas–January 2-4, 2026.

For over half a century The Nolan River Kennel Club has held its annual competition. For the past several years it is held in The Expo in Glen Rose, the sprawling, recently-refurbished arena and exhibition hall in this North Hill Country town, about an hour southwest of Fort Worth.

The prestigious event attracts competitors from all over Texas and the US.

Group shows, concurrent specialty shows, all breed dog shows, obedience trials and rally trials participating Friday, include the Red River Sporting Society, North Texas Non-Sporting Association, Australian Cattle Dog Club of America, Inc, Fort Worth Collie Club and Lone Star Borzoi Club.

Friday and Saturday are the German Shepherd Dog Club of Dallas, and Saturday and Sunday features the North Texas Working Dog Association.

The shows will be held indoors, unbenched. It all takes place in the newly refurbished The Expo at Glen Rose, US 67 @ Bo Gibbs Blvd, Glen Rose, Texas 76043.
